Knowing Emptying Itself
You arrive full.
Full of understanding, full of insight, full of carefully gathered knowing.
Full of language, frameworks, lived experience.
Full of the ways you have learned to meet life, to meet God, to meet yourself.
There’s nothing wrong with this.
It speaks of devotion, of sincerity,
of a heart that has been listening for a long time.
And still… there is an invitation here.
Not to add more.
Not to refine or deepen what you already carry.
But to empty.
To set down, just for a while, the fullness you have arrived with.
The conclusions.
The quiet certainties.
Even the truths that once saved you.
To sit without reference.
Without reaching for what you know how to do when you sit.
Without leaning on the familiar gestures of the path.
This is not an instruction.
It’s an opening.
An invitation.
A willingness to stand naked before the mystery,
without answers in your hands,
without a map folded neatly in your pocket.
Radical not knowing is not a failure of understanding.
It is its undoing.
The moment the mind loosens its grip
and the heart stops trying to name what is happening.
Here, nothing is asked of you.
No effort is required.
No posture of holiness needs to be maintained.
Let yourself be emptied of even the desire to be empty.
Let the ground fall away beneath the one who knows how this goes.
Grace does not arrive because it is summoned correctly.
It reveals itself when there is nothing left to manage,
nothing left to protect,
nothing left to prove.
In the quiet that follows, something begins to breathe you.
Not as an experience to be had,
but as a remembering too intimate for language.
Stay there.
Not doing, not waiting, not watching for signs.
Just available.
What reveals itself does not need your understanding.
It only asks that you do not stand in its way.
