The Courage to Shine
To stand in your own light
is not about becoming something new.
It’s not the striving for brilliance,
nor the polishing of an image that others will admire.
It is the willingness to be as you are,
to let the quiet radiance of your being
spill into the world without apology.
Your light is not earned.
It’s not a reward for hard work,
nor the outcome of endless self-improvement.
It is what remains when the masks fall away,
when the need to prove yourself dissolves,
when you no longer contort to fit
someone else’s idea of who you should be.
To stand in your own light is to stop dimming yourself
for fear of rejection,
to stop shrinking in the hope of being loved.
It is to rest in the truth that love was never conditional,
that worth was never at stake.
This light is not separate from the mess and the ache.
It shines through the cracks,
through the tenderness of your humanity.
It does not demand perfection.
It asks only for honesty,
for the courage to be seen.
To stand in your own light
is to recognise that you are already whole,
already radiant,
already enough.
And when you dare to live from here,
you become a mirror.
Your presence reminds others
of the flame within themselves.
Let this be a revolutionary act of radical self-illumination.
Let yourself shine bright, as the truth of who you are.
